Appearance: Attractive. That's one word that describes Roger Davies. One look at the guy and you would be completely smitten or at least take a double glance. The Ravenclaw alumni stands around 6"0 and has a muscular body due to constantly playing quidditch. He has messy dark brown hair and a slightly tan skin tone. His eyes shine a deep blue also sporting above thick dark eyebrows.
Roger is usually seen with a rugged face, and not one for shaving. It's quite a surprise to those who knew him before since he always had a smooth youthful face. Now with a scruffy appearance, Roger appears even more manly and a bit intimidating. Even portraying a 'bad boy' type of vibe. But Roger is far from being a bad boy, despite his antics back in his Hogwarts years. He prefers approaching his appearance as a much mature look. Almost just like his personality. The type of apparel Roger sports is polos, t-shirts, sweatshirts and for bottoms are usually jeans or slacks. He's not one to dress formally, only on special occasions. He tends to dress in dark shades such a navy blue, black, gray. Sometimes he's seen with sunglasses or coats.
Personality: He was outgoing, a party boy, and the social butterfly. He was the ladies man, the captain of the Quidditch team, the it guy. The guy who girls wanted to be with, and who guys wanted to be friends with. Some despised him for being to egocentric, others praised his confidence. That was Roger Davies two years ago.
It was amazing how two years could alter someone. But that probably what happens when a war of good versus evil occurs right in one's own very backyard. After numerous events of losing his family due to the war, his outgoing bright personality faded into being abrupt, cold, and straightforward. He's no longer a naive 7th year old, but a mature young ambitious adult who sets his priorities straight. He's more realistic with his life and also someone with determination. He's also extremely blunt and uses dry wit excessively.
However when he with people he trusts and feels comfortable with, he's more laidback than usual, bringing a little piece of his teenager self back. It's now a rare side to many to see a relaxed Roger, but it does come out whenever he doesn't have things to take care of. He enjoys the company of his friends, and is quite witty with his words. Though he is much more mature and serious than before, Roger is more compassionate to those he cares about, usually there to lend a hand or an ear. Roger’s also very protective to those he cares about, like his niece who he practically treats almost as his own daughter. He's very good when it comes to advice and is wise with his words.
Some quirks about Roger is that he tends to debate a lot. And being a debateful person leads to nasty arguments. Whenever he's in a heated argument, he doesn't seem to let it go so easily, and it could hurt the other person. Also sometimes being realistic can also make him a bit of a pessimist. He's not one be wistful or hold high hopes and dreams as he did before. Especially with everything that happened to him. With his looks, he does still attract many, but sometimes his cold front can push some away. He can be polite but just not open. He puts a lot of things before him, sometimes causing him to be weary sometimes.
History: With having two parents with magic, Roger Davies knew he was gifted with magic. Magic was all around him, and he grew up with magic. So it was no surprise that he would get an acceptance letter from Hogwarts. His father was a Ravenclaw and his mother was in Slytherin. And his older sister Matilda was in Ravenc;aw. It was either he'd be sporting the green and silver or the blue and gold. And the hat decided that blue and gold suited the young Davies boy.
He got along with fellow Ravenclaws just fine. He was quite sociable in his 1st year and 2nd year, a bit of a class clown, and someone who wanted to be known for something. He was raised to aim high for his goals, impress his parents, and be the very best. And Roger wanted to do that in his years of Hogwarts. It wasn't until his 3rd year of Hogwarts that he got into the quidditch. He knew a lot about it, and his father was pretty much in love with quidditch. Though his father never got the chance to play when he was in Hogwarts, he always took Roger to every World cup game, and other various local games. And on his first try, he got in as a chaser. And he excelled on the position. Soon he was known well by others for being an highly good quidditch player and got the captain position on his 6th and 7th year.
Everything was going well for the boy. He was the popular Ravenclaw captain, excelling in his studies and playing well in quidditch. And soon he became quite the ladies man. Roger did come off as arrogant and self-centered. He did have an eye on one person in his 6th year and that was Cho Chang. They were on and off feelings but he had most attraction to her than any other girl. But Cedric Diggory seemed to steal her heart before Roger did. He envied Diggory a bit. He was someone who was just as popular as Roger was. He was even a candidate for the Triwizard Tournament. Something Roger would definitely want, even though he wasn't of age. Trying to get over his jealousy, he talked to Fleur Declour, the half-veela candidate from Beauxbatons. He found her extremely attractive of course, but kept his charm unlike other boys who acted naïve around her. Roger then asked Fleur to the ball and she agreed. They had a gret night, and it ket his mind off of Cedric and Cho. After that, they somewhat had a relationship, it was more dealing with lust than love. Though Roger was never a good candidate when it came to love. But he felt slightly mournful once the news spread of Cedric Diggory's death. He also felt eerie of the presence of Voldemort and Death Eaters being around but decided not to think about it and go on with his life. A few weeks right after Fleur returned back to her hometown, he broke up with her because of distance Around the summer, he was still smitten by Cho Chang, and took the courage to ask her out but she declined. He eventually found out she was attracted to Harry Potter. In defeat, Roger decided to go on a dating spree with various girls to get over Cho. He eventually ended up with a girl from Gryffindor around his age around the beginning of '96. But soon they broke it off the summer after graduation.
Roger then pursued to become a professional quidditch player and automatically det his sights on the Montrose Magpipes. He had the connections since Matilda married a former Montrose player and halfblood, Aldair Maddock who currently worked in the department of broom regulatory control. Roger tried out and got in being a reserve chaser for Montrose. He thought about proving to the captain being on the main team but there were many other players who were older and played harder than Roger. Life seemed to go fine after that. He continued to play for Montrose every now and then, and dealt with the rigorous practice. It was a shift for him not being one of the best players. Matilda and Aldair had a daughter on December 13 of '96 and named her Serena. But his casual easygoing life changed once it hit '97.
It was around March that he noticed that his parents, who were a rather close couple, had suddenly became distant. Whenever he returned home from games or practice, things were just different between them, as if there was an empty awkward gap. Roger was not informed of anything, and neither his sister knew anything. His father reassured him that it was nothing, it was small stuff. But it wasn't small once Roger came to visit his parents one night in early April, only to find his father sitting in his couch with a sunken expression on his face. Matilda was sitting in front of him and looked at Roger with a weary expression, but managed to put a tired smile. He was soon informed that his mother packed everything and left. He was shocked and wondered about the reason. Matilda stated that their father assumed that their mother fled to her side of the family. Roger insisted on following their mother but his father demanded him to let her be. It was "too risky". Roger didn't understand since his mother's side of the family wasn't harmful in his eyes. Sure they were wealthy and were strong about their status but he never really suspected his mother's side of the family as a potential danger. Or even his mother. Or either he was completely oblivious to his surroundings.
Roger continued on with his quidditch career. Eventually he was offered to be in the first-string starting in Montrose. This offer excited him and he accepted the position, promising to do his best. His dream of being a starting chaser was fufilled. Bad news seemed to be spreading across wizarding Britain. Dumbledore was claimed dead in June. The Ministry had a ominous air around after that. His brother-in-law Aldair still had the intention to work and help out the Ministry and was unafraid of what would happen. Then August of '97 seemed to change Roger's life completely. After the attack and the fall of the Ministry, Roger recieved the news from his father that Aldair and Matilda were killed during the fall of the Ministry. Roger was told that Matilda got off of work at St. Mungos and went to visit Serena who was babysitted by Roger's father. Then she told their father that she was going to get Aldair, and they were going to return shortly. Roger felt devastated and angry. Due to the losses, Roger resigned from soon after, and told his father that they have to leave London. Roger didn't want to run the risk of losing his father and his 8-month old niece. So Roger, his father, and Serena fled to Wales where Roger's father side of the family lived. From there on, he practiced charms and spells just in case he ran into some Death Eater came around.
Roger stayed at Wales the remainder of the war, but was suddenly connected with his close friend, Iain Chambers. Roger was interested into helping out to fight against the dark side. He was soon connection into the Order and was involved in a few missions, apparating from Wales to wizarding London every once in awhile. He soon returned back to London once the war was over. He bought himself his own flat and gradually became accustomed to the post-war life. His niece was sometimes dropped off to him, and he had to babysit her occasionally for a short periods of time. He began to look for an occupation other being involved in the Order. Quidditch was still not an option to him, feeling that he wasn;t ready to go back to the professional team Roger recently went to Sangster Institute to ask Professor McGonagall if he could take a position in there. He was soon appointed as a Broom Instructor and Quidditch Referee/Coach for the school since Madame Hooch was in an unexpected accident. He felt guilty about Hooch but accepted the offer.
